The Mandalorian - What To Expect For Season 2

CAUTION! This blog contains spoilers for Season 1 of The Mandalorian. You have been warned.

The season finale of The Mandalorian is already almost a month in the past, so it is time to look forward to the second season, coming to Disney+ Fall 2020. Here are a few things you can expect to see in Season Two!

Cara Dune

On some interviews, Gina Carano confirmed she had bruises all over her body, due to her stunts on the set of Mando season 2. The former MMA-star's character was one of the coolest parts of the first season, you could really see how much she embodied Cara Dune in every second, and even in interviews she showed so much passion for this show, I am more than thrilled to see her return!

Carl Weathers directing

While it was reported a while ago that Jon Favreau would direct episodes of the second season of "his" show (he couldn't do it in season one because of The Lion King), at a press event around three months ago Favreau confirmed not only that filming had already begun for season 2, but also that Carl Weathers would direct one episode. Weathers, who directed quite a few episodes of Television in the late 90s/early 2000s and started getting back into directing in the last years, including one epispode of Hawaii Five-0 in 2019), co-starred in the first season as Grief Carga and is likely to return as an actor as well.

Adding to this, Favreau also mentioned that another director worked on season 2 that is still to be revealed.

The Great Purge

With the darksaber beeing introduced in the season finale, it is likely we will see how Gideon got hold of it. The last we saw of it was in Star Wars Rebels, where Sabine gave it to Bo-Katan Kryze, sister of former ruler Duchess Satine. Since she would not let the darksaber go without a fight, Bo-Katan might be dead, but we could see her in a flashback (and her voice, Katee Sackhoff, is a well known actress, so she could come in to play her). But also Sabine Wren might be a character interested in the story of the darksaber, since she gave it to Bo-Katan, and she should be on her quest with Ahsoka searching for Ezra, so it isn't impossible that we might see her/them too - but let's not hope for too much. ;)

Gamorrean strippers?

Season 2 of #TheMandalorian coming Fall 2020

Well ok, probably not strippers. But Jon Favreau basically confirmed that Gamorreans will be in Season 2. Gamorreans are a quite popular species of the more "rogue" part of the galaxy, so it will be cool to see more of them. A Gamorrean might turn up to be a major character, or we could see a mission that takes Mando to a group of Gamorreans (or something completely different)- we don't know to what extend we'll see them, but either way: I'm in!

More freaking Baby Yoda!

Let's be honest, everyone loves Baby Yoda! And we know Mando will look out for him for quite some more, searching for "his kind" (that might be his species, but it might be the Jedi as well - Luke, Ezra, Ahsoka? There are plenty of possibilities). We can take it for guaranteed that we will get far more Baby Yoda memes, and far more cuteness overloads! This is the way!

Are you looking forward to The Mandalorian season 2 just as much as I am? And do you think we will get to know why Mandalorians took off their helmets in TCW&Rebels, but now the Mandalorians in this show? Tell me in the comments!
